Prairie Lee Lake Cleanup 2013

It’s time for the Prairie Lee Lake Cleanup again.  With the help of the Parks and Rec, we are scheduled for Saturday, June 8th, 2013, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.   We will meet Saturday morning at the Prairie Lee boat launch area (off Scruggs Road).

Deffenbaugh Industries will be providing dumpsters for the cleanup and they will be located at the boat ramp area.

For those of you who would like to come, but are unable to help with the trash cleanup, we could use your help handing out food and beverages.

Three years ago during the lake cleanup we had 18 dump truck loads of logs and tree limbs removed from the lake.  To make this year’s lake cleanup successful, we again need help from the people that do have boats to bring them and use them to retrieve the logs and debris from areas that we cannot reach from shore.  For those that do not have boat access, there is plenty of work to be done on foot as well.

Parks and Rec will have a sign-up sheet for all volunteers so you can get community credit.  They will also have their pontoon boat with the crane and a bobcat to help with the heavy debris.

I have contacted the Tribune and the Journal and they will be advertising the Prairie Lee Lake cleanup in their newspapers.  Both papers will have photographers there to take pictures of this event.

Food and beverages will be provided to all volunteers in appreciation of their help and support.

This is a great way to have a few hours on the lake meeting other people interested in the lake making a big difference in how the lake looks and feels.   You can find out a lot of interesting history about the lake.  All are invited and encouraged to attend.
